Raven of Love- Pastor Oscar Cabrera( Lima, Peru)
“ Under God’ s direction, they purchased a plot of land. After the second church was established, struggles became apparent.”
It was Sunday morning, four years ago, and Pastor Oscar Cabrera, senior pastor of the Templo Calvario( Calvary Temple Church) was preparing the day’ s sermon.
Pastor Oscar’ s church entered the Children of Jesus program in 2004. Since then, they have experienced huge growth. More and more Sunday school children started to come to hear about God’ s love, eat their weekly church-provided meals, receive gifts of school supplies and enjoy being in the presence of other children. It was an active day.
As the sun sets, the children returned home and Templo Calvario closed their doors for the night. However, there was something unsettling in Pastor Oscar’ s heart. He was not satisfied with remaining complacent because God would not allow that. Pastor Oscar sought the Lord’ s direction.
The Holy Spirit drew Pastor Oscar to the neighboring town of Ventanilla, located two hours away. The youth in Ventanilla were wandering in the dark. They did not have a church nearby for them to go and worship. Pastor Oscar wanted to draw them to the light of Jesus.
For a few months, the church covered the taxi costs for fifteen young people to attend church worship. However, more and more youth wanted to come and the expenses became too much for the church to absorb. There had to be another reason God
New Dawn
Pastor Oscar Cabrera is a recipient of the Raven of Love ministry directed Pastor Oscar to Ventanilla. After months of prayer, Pastor Oscar and his congregation went searching for a location to plant a new church. Under God’ s direction, they purchased a plot of land. After the second church was built, other struggles appeared.
Pastor Oscar could not care of both churches located two hours apart. The work and ministry needed at both churches and the time it took him to travel between them became overwhelming.
But God did not delay in His provision. Within a matter of weeks, God led Clara Paredes a staff member of COJ Peru to come and become a supervisor of the church. Between Pastor Oscar and Clara leading the new church, both churches are thriving in their communities. The church in Ventanilla currently serves twenty children and four families. However, they are in need of a senior pastor, someone who can commit full time to serving the children of Ventanilla.
The new church is named Nuevo Amanecer( New Dawn). Nuevo Amanecer serves as the new beacon of light in Ventanilla, shining its light all around for many lost souls to see and find safe passage to God’ s Promised Land. Join us in prayer, as Nuevo Amanecer celebrates its second year anniversary this year. Pray that this church will continue to reach out to the community and draw in all the lost souls back to their loving Abba Father! www. coj. org 13
