WVUSD: 2014-2015 Year-End Results

the year have provided instructionally based training in Common Core-based instruction,
instructional technology, Next Generation Science Standards training, STEAM education,
close reading, evidence-based writing, math practice standards, as well as other areas.
Additionally, sessions have been provided that assist employees in obtaining both
professional growth training and personal development opportunities.
External
presenters during the conference and throughout the year have included Janice Pilgreen,
David Ghoogasian, Pamela Clute, Jan Stallones, Carol Jago, and Mark Newton.
Planning for these professional development offerings has been collaborative, and the
planning process has included teachers and principals from elementary, middle, and high
school levels. Vertical and horizontal collaboration amongst teachers at all grade levels
has also been occurring throughout 2014-2015, including articulation days at the
elementary level in August and February.
During 2014-2015, the Technology Department and Tech Coaches have used the
“Develop the Whole Teacher Approach” in technology:
Providing daily/weekly technology trainings from novice to expert levels of proficiency,
promoting continuous growth
WVUSD-specific development that includes objectives based on content of the district
and site
Multidimensional approaches (usually in a 1:1 training setting) target skills, practices,
and the needs of individual teacher, offering multiple ways to learn and develop one’s
skills; additionally, trainings accommodate for a variety of teacher needs and
motivations
Cyber Cafés are provided on a regular basis, so teachers may log in from any
convenient location to be trained
Cutting edge knowledge and skill have allowed district Tech Coaches and site
administrators to present at the annual CUE conference in Palm Sp
