Girls’ This year we were lucky to have some great numbers once again, for playing the fun winter sport of Football. We had 4 full teams in local competition, which all did well in their own divisions. Our social team or 3rd XI had a great season, by winning division 4 of the local competition. We had two teams in division 2 and it was always interesting seeing the rivalry between the 2nd XI (made up of mostly seniors) and the Junior A. These two teams had some great game against schools like Sacred Heart and William Colnisco. Not to mention playing each other. These two teams ended up 2nd and 3rd overall. I would like to thank Paula Edilson, Stephen Lowery, Football Junior A Girls Team Back Row: Annika Tissies, Greer Edilson, Nicole Richmond John O’herliey, and Grahman Moore for looking after, 2nd Row: Georgia Shannon, Emily Watt, Abby Winterburn, coaching, and transporting all of these players to different Olivia Wolland, Ellie Bicker, Paula Edilson (Coach) Front Row: Molly Lee, Tatum Fletcher, Anna Welch (Captain), Megan Tait, venues. You have done a great job. Our Girls’ 1st XI team once again had a bit of mixed year, which a few growing pains here and there, but with all of the young fresh blood, they showed in local competition that we were here to play and that we had a good team even if the average age of the team is 15. This was shown in the first game again CHB were we won 10-0. Sadly these high scoring games were few but the winning on the other hand was consistent throughout the season. However once again it was Napier and Hastings Girls high schools teams which were our real competition. We too had our share of injuries, asthma attacks, which included a broken ankle (which wasn’t even a sports related injury). But the team carried on, and with the help of our coach Geoff Pyott we managed some great wins including a great win against Napier Girls’ high School for the Division 1 Shield. Sadly, this shield doesn’t mean that we won the division. Where we ended up third overall. Georgia Lane
