When it came to tournament, we were off to Hamilton. Thanks to Margy we were lucky enough to find some interesting accommodation which was about 20mins out of Cambridge. We were also lucky to have Margy Morris, Megan Pyott and Karen O’Leary come with us. These “mums” were amazing, they cleaned, washed, cared and transported us everywhere. They even took us to two different malls and ‘the Soccer Shop’ when it was raining everyday. On day One, we had rain, and some hard playing football. Sadly, we had a close loss to Waikato Diocesan school for Girls’ who won the tournament overall. It was hard not having Geoff with us, as he had to be in Nelson. Everyday it was a race against the school van to see who could get to the football grounds the fastest. Time and time again Megan showed that she is one competitive lady and one hell of driver. This was a tournament to remember and to Snap Chat too. We may not have got an easy pool, or come placed as high as we wanted, but we had some fun, got to play football twice a day, and cold and wet because of the really really great weather that tournament brings to places this time every year. But also that this was my last tournament with the team. I can only hope that they have had as much fun over the years, and that they will remember that you win as a team and the loss as a team. That’s just part of the game. I have loved every minute of it, well now that i can look back at it. Thanks so much Girls’ You are an amazing team.
