School Uniform Description
Middle School Students must wear the Life
Academy uniform each day. The Life Academy
uniform includes a black tee-shirt with
the Life Academy logo and a grey hoodie.
Uniform requirements will be given out during
registration. We encourage families to purchase
a black polo for school presentations. We are on
a shared campus so it is essential that students
can be identified as Life Academy students
based on their outward appearance. The high
school does not require a uniform, but students
must adhere to a strict dress code. Students
must dress professionally for all internships and
presentations.

Life Academy is a small sixth through 12th grade Full-Service
Community School within the heart of the Fruitvale district.
Life Academy is specifically designed to support students
who are interested in science, medicine, and health. Have
you always dreamed of helping people by working in high
paid careers in medical field? The health care industry is the
second leading industry in Oakland and is projected to be
one of the fastest growing fields for the next generation.
If you are interested in being a doctor, nurse, or other
medical specialist, this is the school for you! We are deeply
committed to improving opportunities for Oakland students
to excel in the fields of science, medicine and health. In our
sixth through eighth grade curriculum we teach our students
the foundation of science and public health issues through
dynamic projects and off-campus explorations. As our
students transition into high school, the grade level projects
and trips continue with a culminating internship program in
11th and 12th grades. We have an amazing array of partners
and Life Academy places students in all the major hospitals
in Oakland. In addition to our focus on Health and Medicine,
as a Full-Service Community School we believe that students
are more successful when parents feel connected and have
a voice at the table. Our parents join together to guide the
way towards community engagement with weekly meetings
with our administrative team and a voice in hiring decisions,
policies and student needs. Come join us at Life Academy
where we are changing the face of healthcare, one student
at a time!
