Our school is a gem! La Escuelita Elementary School was
founded in 1975 by the parents of children from the Child
Development Center, Centro Infantil de la Raza. In August
2012, we moved into our new school, which is part of
Phase 1 of the future Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12
La Escuelita Education Center, located near Laney College.
The exciting move into our new, green, energy-efficient
building has created many possibilities for our growth into
a Full-Service Community School. On campys resources
include the Youth Heart Health Center (shared with MetWest
and Dewey High Schools). We offer a strong academic
program for Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade,
(including bilingual education for grades K-2) where teachers,
parents, and community partner collaborations are key.
In addition, as part of our campus we have the Special
Education Reading Clinic. Our mission at La Escuelita is to
prepare young people to reach their full potential and be
confident, creative, contributors, to a multicultural society.
Our afterschool provider for grades two through five, East
Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC), offers academic support
in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, along with many
enrichment opportunities. Students at La Escuelita learn
in caring classrooms with a climate of high expectations.
We offer Language Arts/English Language Development,
Science with FOSS, Mat hematics, Computer Preparation
for all grades, volunteer Reading Support for third graders,
New-Comer support for students new to the country,
Parent Literacy Classes, Playworks and Physical Education to
support organized play, and Caring School Community Class
Meetings/Monthly Character Traits.
