The nexus of care and rigor is the ‘Sankofa Way.’ Beginning
in 2014-15 Sankofa became a full preschool through
eighth grade school. Sankofa also provides a Transitional
Kindergarten Program (TK) and a Program for Exceptional
Children (Special Education) for students in preschool
through fifth grade. Sankofa Academy emphasizes student
empowerment and academic achievement. We believe
that children learn best when they are actively engaged
in answering their own questions about the relationship
between their school work and their lives. All students
are empowered to master literacy, mathematics, science,
social studies, and technology. We have a Family Resource
Center that offers workshops and resources for families.
Additionally, we have an Extended Day Program for our
students in the first through seventh grades to provide
‘seamless’ care at Sankofa Academy.

School Uniform Description
At Sankofa, uniforms for preschool through fifth
grade students are solid navy blue or white tops
with blue or khaki bottoms. Uniforms for sixth
through eighth grade students are solid gold,
yellow, or white tops with khaki bottoms.
