The school office sells at-cost uniform tops with EnCompass logo. Families can also choose to purchase their own tops, as long as it follows the color code: kindergarteners and first graders wear red (to represent fire, helping a seedling burst open); second and third graders wear forest green (to represent the shoot of a plant’s new growth); fourth and fifth graders wear gold (to represent the color of glorious bloom). EnCompass Academy uses the school day in intentional, rigorous, and meaningful ways to develop the whole child, including science-rich learning, authentic family-school partnership, and quality enrichment (visual arts, singing, mindful drumming, fitness and nutrition, African dance, technology and engineering, and social-emotional skill development). Close alignment of general and special education staff help students in the Resource, Autistic Spectrum, and Special Day Class programs to accelerate learning as integrated members of the school community. Our beautiful campus oasis, with award-winning design and green space, have rolling lawns, native plant-lined pathways, garden beds, an outdoor amphitheater, and a multipurpose auditorium. Our school library is the inspiring state-of-theart 81st Avenue Community Library, co-located on the our campus. Community partnerships bring graduate studentteachers, counseling interns, and technology to enhance the work of our highly-skilled teachers. A daily student salad bar lunch option, fruit and vegetable snack three times per week, and the weekly Oakland Fresh Produce Market reinforce student and family wellness habits.
