HBSS Championships The HBSS triathlon was held at Pandora Pond, Napier. Two students from the school finished on the podium. Jenna Tidswell, found the winner too strong, but finished a comfortable second in the junior girls’ race. Though 7th out of the swim, her cycle leg saw her overtake everyone bar the winner with second fastest time, and her second fastest time in the run consolidated her position. Abbie Lochhead, competing in the senior girls’ grade, also had a podium finish, ending up with a third placing in a very large field. She worked her way into third, after an excellent cycle where she was second fastest time. It improved her position after being fifth out of the water. The cycle gave her a good buffer going into the run, and her sound effort saw her end up in third place. Quite a few Y13 students did the triathlon as part of their physical education programme. Best of the girls was Zoe Gordon, and best of the boys was Phillippe Grooby.
