Forum
Being in the forum this year has been one of the many
great experiences in our five years at Havelock North
High School. Our forum is composed of our eight house
leaders, head boy and girl and a school representative,
led by Mr Wilton.
This year, we have been able to participate and give back
to the school in many ways from helping at the school
Spring fair to being able to communicate suggestions or
concerns from our fellow students. All in all this year has
been great for developing our forum’s leadership skills
whilst providing a bridge between students and staff. We

around the school in years to come.
To kick the year off, we headed down to Wellington to
the Young Leaders Conference in Wellington in April. The By Libby Rainger and Alice Guerin
theme of the daywas to aspire to live a 3D life, to dream,
dare and develop at each thing that you do. We found
each kiwi speaker to have a very unique message
inspiring us all for our future endeavors.
The trip was a great opportunity and also gave us a

On return from our trip, we used our weekly meetings as
a chance to plan a project of our own. It was a day that
we called ‘Leadership For Life’ . The idea behind it was
a morning to gather some aspiring leaders from schools
around Hawkes Bay to listen to our guest speakers and
share a morning-tea. Each member of the forum took
responsibility in organizing some aspect of it. We were
proud to be able to host Jamie Fitzgerald, Cameron
Jones and Henare O’Keefe. Again, like in Wellington we
were presented with a range of messages to take away
and interpret into our own lives. We felt like the day was a
huge success and hope that a similar morning could be
carried out for future forums.
