Term 3 was a time where we chose to give to a charity that was close to many peoples heart by raising money for the Hasting SPCA. This is the third year that we have raised money for them and we know that everyone loves to dress up as an animal now and again. Finally this year we let Ms Jones’ year 10 social studies classes take over a mufti day to help with all of the events, games and activities that they were organising for Globe Eradicate Poverty week. It was awesome to see the younger students at this school getting interested in giving back to the committee and having a better understanding of doing something to help out those in need. Along with the sausage sizzle, lollies and face-painting put on by the Cultural Committee. It was excellent to see the senior students as well as staff dressing up for the occasion. Next on the list was Talent Quest. Organised by the Committee, with the help of Messrs Cargill and Throp, along with Carmen, Talent quest was another huge success. With an amazing variety of performers over the four lunchtime auditions, the 11 finalists were chosen. The night-time show put on for the Final was an amazing success showing the vast instrumental, vocal, dancing and comedic talents of all performers involved as well as certain audience members. In the end, Campbell Hay wowed the judging panel and took out Talent Quest 2014. Members of the committee also helped out both The Spring Fair and Music Fest, in roles ranging from set up, to advertising, to playing and even MC-ing various parts of these events. In all it has been an exciting and action packed year for the members of the Cultural committee and we wish the best of luck to next year’s team.
