12th Division G Annual Contest | Seite 12

Message from the District 79 Club Growth Director Greetings! When I had delivered my first Icebreaker, it made me realized the vast opportunity that Toastmasters organization can offer me – the power through leadership. Yes, leaders empower! As I often mention in my speeches, the leaders’ job is to put people on top, enlarging their belief that they too can serve and help others become better. Only empowered individual can reach their full potential thus as leaders we keep enlarging people by giving them opportunities to test and prove that each has their own set of leadership skills. Only then the tag line “Where Leaders are Made” can be fulfilled! On the event of Division G Annual Contest with the theme “Ace with Greatness”, I am humbled to congratulate the men and women behind the success of this feat. More than a hundred members will converge, not only to witness speakers compete but to celebrate achievement, educational workshop presenters to enlighten not only to impart information, and the participants to find places in our community not only to experience and fulfill their vowed duties. You are fortunate that your division has been blessed with a working team – one that puts the good of the team ahead of themselves! This event shall not host only the proficient speakers but also selfless contest leaders – chief judge, timers, tally counters, sergeant-at-arms, test speakers and most importantly the unknown soldiers, our contest judges! Every role players have significant contribution, piece & parcel, when are efforts are concerted we gain a harmony of working relationships towards a goal of making the event fair, credible and most of all successful! As your CGD, let me remind you that as you & I grow and improve as leaders, so will those we lead. We need to remember that when people follow us, they can only go as far as we do. If our growth stops, our ability to lead will stop along with it. Continue modeling growth for others to follow. Emphasize learning and growing today and watch those around you begin to grow. True to our “growth tag line” of Grow, Go and Glow! We have to challenge ourselves first to grow cause a leader cannot make great demand of others what he does not demand of himself. Grow cause we cannot model what we do not possess. When we achieve growth, only then we can go and build the path for others to follow. Our followers will have their growth plans and soon become leaders themselves. When we contribute to others’ success, we glow for all we know that we made impact – the very cause of our existence. Everyone in toastmasters is capable of becoming a person who lifts up others. Start by caring and believing that you can add value in their lives! You cannot win if you do not begin. Begin the growth cycle now. Yours in Toastmasters, James Taruc, DTM Club Growth Director 8
