Holiday Light Displays and Parades
Celebrate the magic of the season with these holiday light displays and festive parades, bringing dazzling decorations and community traditions to towns across the region.
Oskaloosa— Painting With Lights; November-early January, 4:45-11 p. m. Every year, over 300,000 LED Christmas lights glisten from facades and buildings in the city park.
Oskaloosa— Lighted Christmas Parade, Dec. 5, 7 p. m. The 39th annual parade has had over 60 decorated floats in the past, and is part of the festivities that include Painting With Lights.
Knoxville— Merry-N County Christmas; mid-November through Christmas Eve( Friday-Sunday, 6-8 p. m.). Attendees can turn into KNIA / KRLS 93.5 to sync up to the 75 light and decoration displays inside the historic village.
Fairfield— Holiday Lighting Ceremony; Nov. 28, 6 p. m., Central Park. The event will feature a performance by the Fairfield High School choir. There also will be horse-drawn wagon rides and refreshments.
Centerville— Santa’ s Arrival and Tree Lighting, Nov. 28, Centerville square

Kerstmarkt / Sinterklaas
The annual Kerstmarkt festival, which will be held Dec. 3-5 in Pella, showcases the community’ s talents, and features local vendors in wooden booths, Dutch food and holiday entertainment. Sinterklaas is a family-friendly event that features a parade where Sinterklaas— the Dutch name for Santa Claus— arrives by boat, as well as a marching band and children are able to receive gift bags. The event is held the first Saturday in December, and is centered around downtown Pella, more specifically the Scholte Church and the Tulip Toren.
