1 - Introduction - Living like a real Christian MEEKNESS | Page 8
suggested that this was God’s ordained time for David to take the throne. But David’s
spiritual discernment was far more than Abishai’s was, and he knew that when God
wanted him to be the king, God would make him the king without him having to do
anything.
We have often preached in our church that God has a purpose for our lives, I would hate
for you to think that God’s purpose is just for you to do stuff. I am sure that God has
stuff for you to do, but God’s purpose is for you to know Him better; to love Him more
and to trust Him more deeply with the issues of your life.As you do that on a consistent
basis, all this “stuff” that God would have you do, will happen automatically.
Meek people are evidenced by their relaxed nature. They are not, in any way,
complacent to the things of God and they are continuously zealous for God, but they are
never in a hurry to be great for God. God will do all of that, they know, as He sees fit and
most certainly in His time. Our job, therefore I repeat, is just to love Him, trust Him and
to serve Him to the best of our ability where we are right now and then commit
ourselves to doing that for the long haul.
Prayer Thought: Again today won’t you contemplate the practical nature of our
Christian faith and realise, with me, that it’s all about God’s timing on the one hand and
our faithfulness to God on the other. It’s great that we have a vision and a dream for our
lives, but won’t you, as you pray today, commit that vision and that dream into the hands
of a Sovereign God who we know, and truly believe, makes all things “beautiful in His
time”.

Numbers 12
In Numbers 12 v 3 we have a referral to Moses being, of all men, the most meek. One of
the reasons that Moses was considered meek, is shown in the story that surrounds this
particular verse. Miriam (Moses’ sister) and Aaron (Moses’ brother) were two co-leaders
with Moses in leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land. Moses was, however,
clearly the leader of the three and was most obviously God’s anointed. Miriam and
Aaron, however, grew jealous of Moses’ popularity and grumbled behind his back. God
called a meeting with all three of them, a cloud descended over them and a conversation
ensued, where God expressed his disappointment over Miriam and Aaron’s attitude. The
cloud then lifted and Miriam was covered in leprosy. Instead of Moses gloating over
Miriam’s demise, he prayed for God’s forgiveness for her and asked that God would
restore her from the leprosy. This incident exemplifies the meekness of Moses as only
meek people can forgive like that. Once again we see, today, a beautiful illustration of
