1 - Introduction - Living like a real Christian MEEKNESS | Página 6

meekness was determined by a close relationship with God who, he knew, no matter if he took the high road or the low road, would, at the end of the day, fulfil His purpose for his life. Let’s learn today to trust God with these decisions. I know if you do you will sleep a lot better at night as well!! Prayer Thought:The study this week is an incredibly practical one. Won’t you look into your situation, as it stands at present, and see if there are areas where you are using your power to control the choices of other people. I realise that this needs to be exercised with a measure of discernment, but won’t you ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you could apply the power under control principle. TUESDAY Genesis 50 v 20 – “You intended it for evil, but God intended it for good.” The words spoken in our reading above were words that were spoken by our hero,Joseph. He spoke these words at the height of his power when he was the prime minister of Egypt. His brothers were confused at his willingness to show them mercy and grace and they obviously wanted to know how he was able to do that. Joseph was able to show mercy to his brothers because he understood the “big picture”. He knew and lived out his life under the very real understanding of God’s Sovereignty. His life is a wonderful picture of somebody totally submitted to the will of God. He knew that whether he was a slave, a prisoner or the prime minister, he could live contentedly knowing full well that his submission to the will of God would always lead to a positive end. Only truly meek people are able to live their lives as Joseph did. His life is a great example of somebody whose contentedness was not determined by his circumstances, but was controlled and primarily influenced by his subjection to the will of God. There is a very real link here between meekness and peacefulness. Meek people have to be the most peaceful people on our planet. Again we see the principle of “power under control”. Joseph had all the power in the world to punish his brothers and to get revenge for all the mean things that they had done to him, and yet he chose the high road by forgiving them and giving to them that which they did not deserve (i.e. grace and mercy). Meek people do not seek revenge; meek people simply understand that bad things happen from time to time to good people and that’s ok. Prayer Thought: Today as you look into your life, maybe there are people who have wronged you and people who, in many ways, deserve your anger. Won’t you consider giving to them that which they do not deserve by imitating Joseph as he gave grace instead
