I would like to highlight, however, that God has forever been concerned for the hungry. In Leviticus 19 we have God instructing farmers not to reap from the edge of their fields, or to harvest twice from a land, nor to gather fallen fruit off the floor, but to leave these for the poor. But in the main, God requires of us, certainly under the conditions which we live, to work in order to live. It was out of this context that heroes like Barnabas were born; people who recognised the needs within their church body and used the resources that they had to address those needs. I guess this is why the names given to the church are so important. The church is referred to as a BODY, where if one part suffers, the whole body suffers. We see the church referred to as being a FAMILY, where if one
