Tom Booth-Amos- PTR Factory Triumph Racing WorldSSP
Easy to forget that Englishman Tom Booth-Amos is now 29 year-old, and had ridden is a vast array of championships before he arrived over here in 2020. Another ex-GP paddock rider, he scored some WorldSSP300 race wins before moving on to WorldSSP in 2022. It took until last year at Cremona- and having a British bike under him- for his first WorldSSP podium ride to come along.
He started his second Triumph Street Triple RS 765 season with a first career WorldSSP race win at the awesomely fast Phillip Island.
So, aside from winning races, what does the WorldSBK paddock mean to Tom?“ I suppose it is what you dedicate your life to,” he said at the second Round in Portimao, shortly before securing another podium finish.“ Without this, what would I be doing? I don’ t know, is the total truth of it. You spend every day of your life preparing for your next race weekend, and at the end of the year you are preparing for the next year.”
He continued,“ I raced GPs on and off for three years but I prefer it here. Everyone is pretty nice. On track, it is still as tough. Don’ t get me wrong, because the guys at the top of WorldSSP are fast. I think now the top ten is pretty much all ex-GP riders. Getting there. The level is competition is getting stronger every year.”
Non tutti ricordano che l’ inglese Tom Booth-Amos ha ormai 29 anni ed ha partecipato a una vasta gamma di campionati prima di arrivare qui nel 2020. E’ un altro ex pilota del paddock GP e ha ottenuto alcune vittorie nelle gare del WorldSSP300 prima di passare al WorldSSP nel 2022. Ha dovuto aspettare sino all’ anno scorso a Cremona per conquistare, alla guida di una moto britannica come lui, il suo primo podio nel WorldSSP.
Ha iniziato la sua seconda stagione con la Triumph Street Triple RS 765 conquistando la sua prima vittoria in carriera in una gara WorldSSP sulla velocissima pista di Phillip Island.
Quindi, oltre a vincere delle gare, cosa significa per Tom il paddock WorldSBK?
“ Immagino sia qualcosa al quale dedicare la propria vita”, ha dichiarato nel secondo round di Portimao, poco prima di assicurarsi un altro podio.“ Senza di esso cosa farei? Ad essere sincero non lo so proprio. Trascorri ogni giorno della tua vita a prepararti per il tuo prossimo week end di gara e alla fine dell’ anno inizi a prepararti per la stagione successiva”. Ha poi proseguito:“ Ho corso nei GP a intermittenza per tre anni, ma preferisco qui. Sono tutti molto gentili. In pista, è ancora dura. Non fraintendermi, perché i ragazzi in cima alla WorldSSP sono davvero veloci. Penso che ora i primi dieci siano praticamente tutti ex piloti GP o ci stiamo arrivando. Il livello di competizione si alza ogni anno di più”.
