We also manufacture just under 50% of our goods in China. Even though there are many benifits to this it does mean that the distribution process is longer and more complex, therefore making it more expensive. When we get garments from China the same three mediums are used the factory, warehouse and the consumer, it is the time scale and methods of transport that change.
1.Manufacturer
For this process our garments are made in China. The goods are packaged in exactly the same way as they are in Leicester however from the factory they take different methods of transport. We have two choices; air freight or sea frieght, either way the garments need to be boxed and taken to either the airport or dock via lorry.
AIR
Once the boxed goods have arrived at the airport they wull need to be checked at customs and exports before they can begin their journey to England. They will be stored in large containers and placed in specific cargo carrying planes, far larger than the ones we travel in.
