Yureisis Polo Muñoz, the new students´ representative
My name is Yureisis Melisa Polo Muñoz, I am a tourism student at UNICOLOMBO university. Also, I am proud to be the student representative before the academic council.I entered UNICOLOMBO University at the age of 16 and from there my life has changed and the university has become my second home.
UNICOLOMBO has given me many things for which I am very grateful today, mainly the tourism career which has allowed me to discover new places, interact with people from different parts of the world, thus making me fall more in love with my city every day and to take ownership of our culture.
Additionally, the tourism career has helped me design my life project, which is a tourist route in my neighborhood, where I seek to promote urban community tourism in order to benefit tourists by showing them innovative things that they may not know about Cartagena and also the community can benefit economically.
The degree also allowed me to go to several congresses and conferences where I learned new hotel trends, new forms of tourism; which today, apart from talking about sustainable tourism, we are also talking about regenerative tourism.
I am also part of the UNICOLOMBO dance group in which we represent the university through art and culture. Being in the dance group has allowed me to live new experiences, grow personally, where camaraderie, communication, respect and discipline are essential.
Finally, thanks to all these experiences I am the person I am today, all these processes are of greater satisfaction for me, I value every opportunity that the university gives me to learn, this is one of the reasons why I decided to apply as a student representative since With this I want to ensure that the voice of the students is heard, and thus contribute significantly to the university where what I want to achieve is to advocate for changes and leave a positive and lasting impact on the university community.
