Academic visits: Turbaco and Palenque

Last October 11th, 45 students and 4 professors attended the academic visit to Botanical Garden in Turbaco.

The group eplored the fauna and flora in all the sections, such as, Orchidario, Palmetum, Arboretum and Jardín Evolutivo.

The students also spotted different species of fauna: frogs, apes and birds. After lunch, the group started a tour in Yurbaco museum.

Another academic visit took place the 19th October in Palenque. 15 students and 2 professors had the opportunity to live an academic and cultural inmersion. There, they were received with a traditional dance at the main square.

After this welcome, the group visited the Institución Etnoeducativa Técnica Agropecuaria Benkos Bioho, where the tourist guide explained the importance of this institution because of its role in ethnic education processes. He gave a talk about history, ancestors, customs and the situation of the community.

Then, the students apreciated a show of two typical dances, such as, Mapalé and La Puya at the square.

There, they also appreciated the statue of Benkos Bioho, and the statue of San Basilio de Palenque, that is in the church.

Then, they visited the Palenque Museum, the Music House, where they descovered important information about the Kombilesa Group.

At the end of the tour, they appreciated the sculpture honoring Kid Pambele.
