Nowadays…

Selene was walking around, looking for something new in this bland, colorless world where every day looked the same. Everything was controlled by the king that nobody ever saw. People were controlled like robots, except for this one girl. Selene was nothing like this meager, repetitive world. Even though she had no parents, she had someone who always cared for her who was like a father to her. His name was Artemis. He raised her as his own and always told her not to worry about what others thought of her. That’s why she grew up so differently. She had white hair that shined like silver in the sun. The girl was a bit pale and had hazel, almost bluish eyes. She was wearing a dark red, almost black, silk dress that fit snugly to her torso, though it was lightly blown by the wind. But the dress wasn't too snug to crumble her daily little adventures. Selene always changed her paths, no matter where she went. It didn't matter if it was towards school or home. But this time something was different. It looked as if someone was dragging her by the leash tied to her throat. It felt like she had been here before. So, Selene let her feet carry her like they knew where to go. She found herself in an alleyway that led towards a strange building, where she found an old wooden door. She went through the door and saw something she hadn’t seen before—a desert. While, in the middle of it, there was an old, massive book.
