My name is Maria Nela Racedo Castro, a 16-years-old girll. I was born in Corozal - Sucre. When I finished high school, I participated in the beauty contest of the famous folkloric and traditional Carnival of my town. There, you can appreciate cultural shows such as the comparsas, parades among other cultural activities. These festivities take place every year in February with different themes. Each neighborhood of the municipality or towns belonging to the municipality select a candidate.
These queens are in the dispute for the carnival crown to become the new sovereign of the following year. Thanks to this experience, I learnt many things related to being a woman with charisma, elegance and oratory to be able to address the public. I was a shy girl from a small town, who had never worn heels in her life and who had never been able to speak without hesitating in public. It was not easy for me, I had to learn everything to lose my fear of the public, learn to walk and parade in heels, to express myself better, learn to dance and above all to have a greater sense of belonging to the culture and tradition of my town.
Finally, I put all this learning into practice in my workplace, and know I have the charisma we need in customer service; I also lost the fear of speaking and meeting new people, I love help customer with love and respect without expecting anything in return, it taught me many things and helped me make the best decision in the world, which has been to study my career in Tourism at Unicolombo.
