“Tongues will cease”
When the writing of the New Testament
was finished, there was no longer any
need for this special help from God. All
that Christians need to know is written
down for them in the Bible. So the Spirit
gifts were taken away.
The apostle Paul said this would happen.
In 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, verse 8, we
read,
“Love never fails: but whether there be
prophecies, they shall fail; where there are
tongues, they shall cease; where there is
knowledge, it shall vanish away."
