ԱՇԽԱՐՀԻ ՀԱՅ ԲԱՐԵՐԱՐՆԵՐԸ ARMENIAN PHILANTHROPISTS OF THE WORLD
Kirk Kerkorian ( Grigor Grigoryan ) was born on June 6 , 1917 in Fresno , California , to the family of Lily Grigoryan and Ahron Kerkorian who emigrated to the USA from Kharberd ( Western Armenia ). Kirk was the youngest of four children .
The economic crisis in the USA in 1921 forced the family to move to Los Angeles , and little Kirk at the age of nine began working to help the family . He sold newspapers on the streets . In the eighth grade , he dropped out of school , worked as an auto mechanic and at the same time was engaged in boxing . Soon he became the Fresno amateur boxing champion in the middle weight category .
Kirk wanted to become a professional boxer , but his life changed when he met Ted O ' Flaherty - a veteran navy pilot : Ted was the one who brought him into the world of airplanes . He entered the Morton Air Academy and became an army pilot-instructor . During World War II , Kirk transported Canadian Mosquito bombers from Canada to the British Isles . He made these flights , putting his life in mortal danger . As a result , he delivered 33 planes to Great Britain earning $ 1,000 for each flight . Already in peacetime , flying over the Atlantic Ocean , he set a world record for the fastest flight across the Atlantic Ocean .
The money he had saved from the flights went into business after the war . In 1945 , Kerkorian bought a small two-

Քըրքը ցանկանում էր պրոֆեսիոնալ բռնցքամարտիկ դառնալ , բայց նրա կյանքը փոխվեց , երբ նա հանդիպեց Թեդ Օ ' Ֆլահերթիին : Թեդն այն մարդն էր , որը նրան բերեց ինքնաթիռների աշխարհ :
