The stores are playing beautiful music, everything and everybody around looks and sounds festive, merry, joyful and excited. Americans attend Christmas parties and go to the theatre and holiday concerts.
It is also the time of the year when everybody is going Christmas shopping and everybody would like to get the gifts for their family, relatives, close friends and co-workers. Americans don’ t forget

Christmas tree? 20. Is Christmas a festive time of the year?
Why? about themselves either. They buy new cars, furniture, jewelry, new clothes, and a lot of other useful things for the family. A usual thing Americans ask each other instead of a greeting at this time of the year is“ Are you ready for Christmas?”
Jack was not an exception. He was saving money for Christmas all year round so he can buy gifts for his neighbors, co-workers, and close relatives. Besides, he has to give money for charity because there are a few families who attend his church who can’ t afford to have a good Christmas and to give gifts to their children.
Jack spends a lot of time in the stores and he doesn’ t like it but he knows that he has to go shopping to give gifts, even though the stores are very busy with all the Christmas shoppers.
Finally he is almost

done. He spent a lot of money but he bought everything his family would like to have and will appreciate. He bought a new wool area rug for his living-room and a new dress shirt for himself. He bought a watch, silk tie for his brother, a leather brief case for his brother’ s wife, a new Sony disk player for his niece and a new bike for his nephew. He bought a picture for his cousin and a beautiful crystal vase for his aunt and uncle. He bought a picture album for his friend and a beautiful plant for his next-door neighbor. He also bought a Macy’ s gift certificates for all the employees of his coffee shop.
So Jack is ready for Christmas. The only thing he has not bought yet is – a Christmas tree. But he still has enough time left – 24 hours! Christmas is tomorrow!
Merry Christmas!
Jack bought a crystal vase for himself. Jack spent a lot of money for Christmas shopping.
