Cephisus.
Roman Bridge of Eleusinian Kifissos River
It is located near the eastern entrance of the modern city, at the base of the Athens –
Corinth National Road Bridge
Where the Sacred Way met Eleusinian Kifissos River, one can see a Roman bridge from Emperor
Hadrian’s era. Its construction is linked to the initiation of the Emperor to the Mysteries in 125 CE.
It is made of hard travertine stone and measures 50 m. long and 5.30 m. wide.
