• Social networks make a difference.
The development of social networks and
social relationships with peers and members
of the local community is extremely impor-
tant for integration into society. Although
this knowledge is not new, the value of social
networks in the integration process is often
underestimated and insufficiently addressed
in policy and practice. The experience accu-
mulated by the programme so far shows that a
structured approach that creates a framework
for the development of social networks can
make a difference in the lives of the children
who are most at risk of becoming marginal-
