‘’The beautiful source of happiness’’

Teenagers are widely known for their rather temperamental behavior. Of course they are not to blame, since their body is going under such radical and rapid changes. As one, I must admit that having to constantly go through these ‘’mood shifts’’ has gotten the best of me and has caused a feeling of exhaustion. Therefore I often find myself feeling sad, depressed or just furious with everyone, everything and above all myself for no reason whatsoever. For long I have wondered how to overcome these situations, how to avoid all these self-destructive emotions and to achieve inner happiness.

First of all, I strongly believe that joy springs from the depth of our soul and cannot be offered or taken by anyone. On the contrary, happiness is cultivated and we have the ability to search for it in ourselves, since it always lies within us. All we have to do, is realize that WE have the power to bring it on the surface and let our light shine. Additionally, we ought to come to terms with the fact that people around us cannot and will not affect us, unless we allow them to do so. Thus we must not give anyone the privilege of controlling our emotions, unless she or he is capable of handling them properly. Once we understand how we can mediate our own feelings, our life will take a turn for the better.

Another suggestion of mine is to simply notice, admire and cherish the world and all of the everyday miracles happening unnoticed in the course of our everyday routine. As children, we find satisfaction and pleasure out of the simple things in life and often become impressed with what we today would consider insignificant. This ‘’childish’’ approach though is actually the elixir of life and eternal happiness. So observe, feel, breathe and you shall live free of worries and distractions.
