We need to work together more closely, in a more intensive way. We need to think about what we have to do to better prepare students for the visit and what we should do to make them reflect upon the visit once it is over. Maybe there should be some time for reflection even here. Maybe we should dedicate less time to the visit itself, which might be quite controversial to some of you, but maybe we should think about giving young people some more time to reflect, actually to reflect on the topics? We know that you can stay here in Oświęcim, in Auschwitz for several days - three or eight hours might not be enough - but we have to remember that there are some issues of perception capabilities of young people and there are also organizational issues. We need to keep working, keep improving, becoming more and more professional, and I think that conferences such as this one are extremely important. We need to keep on learning, keep on developing. We need to work with various institutions and again we need to be open and accepting of your voices and your suggestions. This is the second project that we are implementing, this is a huge venture and hopefully more projects like this one will come our way, hopefully we will be able to keep working together with the Anne Frank House.”

Closing statement by Krzysztof Weyher:

“I was not planning on speaking, I have no speech with me that has been prepared so I will speak off-the-cuff. I will speak right out of my heart, I will not have any notes, I will not read any letter out to you but I will just say that I was deeply moved by this conference and that is why I decided to take the floor and address you once more. You are grappling with extremely important, interesting issues. This project was funded from the funds of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that is ear marked for the support of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This fund has special objectives, targets and guidelines, and the work done by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum actually fits well with these general goals set for the fund. It is essential to underscore that. The Ministry has supported your work with funding but there is one more thing that is necessary to make this an interesting educational program and I am referring to the human factor, I am talking about the people. Right here, let me most cordially thank, first of all, Marta Berecka. I would also like to thank Ola who has supported us, and the entire staff of the Anne Frank House, an institution in every sense of the word, which the Netherlands is proud of. Thank you very much. As a Ministry, we are extremely happy that we had the pleasure to contribute to the joint project between the Anne Frank House and the Auschwitz Museum.”

Closing statement by Levien Rouw:

“Let me speak on behalf of the Anne Frank House. This conference is a highlight in the co-operation with the Auschwitz Museum and the co-operation with basically all our Polish partners that started 25 years ago, and will continue for at least another 25 years. About the conference itself, I think you already summarized it in a wonderful way, Piotr.”
