2. You Need To Risk Failure In Order To Succeed Sometimes it’s impossible to reach our goals without facing tremendous failure. Bruce Wayne demonstrates this lesson through his attempts to escape from prison, the prison in which he was banished to by his enemy Bane. The prison is so hellish because of the ‘hope’ of escape it promises, before reaching the hole to freedom and the outside world, Batman must first risk falling into a pit of death. On Bruce’s third and final effort to escape he understands that he must make this attempt without the safety harness. He recognises that he must risk ultimate failure or death, in order to succeed at breaking free. It is our ‘safety harnesses’ that literally hold us back in life. We can be on the verge of something truly wonderful but give up right before we reach success. Why? Because it is at this point that the risk of failure is usually at it is highest. A perfect example of this is a safety harness in the form of a ‘secure’ yet utterly under stimulating job, one which we feel provides us with security and a false sense of purpose. Deep down we know this tight grip holds us back from the life path we really want, yet we are hesitant to release the safety harness. This fear prevents us from taking that final leap off the edge, a leap that will ultimately lead us to achieve what we so desire. Without taking off that safety harness we may never reach what we desire or deserve. Sometimes you need to risk failure in order to succeed, it worked for Bruce Wayne and it has worked for many, many others.
