As one of her first duties, Arushee along with the other newly appointed officials, helped organize iBosm and the out-station tournament. Besides this, her tenure as the Joint Sports Secretary saw major infrastructural renovation, including revamping the tennis and the badminton courts. Although such initiatives are being taken, she feels that a lot can still be done. Take for example the case of swimming, football and hockey, all of which are being played outside the campus for BOSM. On a cold day in February, a group of CoSSAcns assemble in a room in SAC. Their sole purpose: to grill and question the contenders for the posts of Joint Sports Secretaries. The final round of selection after receiving applications from both second and third year-ites, the crossing of the final threshold for a lucky three and bitter ending for the rest. Arushee Garg became one of the lucky ones to have crossed that finish line, crossing it to begin another race, to be at the helm of affairs during BOSM 2014. BOSM has arrived, as has the time of reckoning for the entire organizing committee. For months they have toiled, and have finally reached the end of what they hope will be a fruitful journey. Mihir Dharap is one of them. Taking time out of what is, no doubt, a packed schedule, he consented to share his thoughts with the BOSM English Press. Two new courts have been added to the array on offer: one each for badminton and tennis. Fully funded by Project Parivartan, construction has led to crowded practice sessions for badminton players in the BITS Club, and tennis practice in the Bhagirath Bhawan QT, but the destination seems to have vindicated the journey. The real headline-grabber this time has been, unsurprisingly, the introduction of food from the stalls on a credit basis available on students’ ID cards. With an extendable-on-request 2000 rupee initial credit limit, this is a first-time initiative that seems, going by the generated buzz, to have generated quite a stir. And now, the stage is set for t he JSS’s last act; the final goodbye before the passing of the baton to the next council. The council, along with many departments, ensures the well-oiled machine that is BOSM, runs smoothly. From managing her basketball practices to being involved in every decision regarding BOSM, Arushee has juggled her duties to perfection. With her tenure almost over, when asked what her thoughts were on her experiences and what she expects out of BOSM, Arushee says that being involved in so many decisions has helped her and the team get to know each other and that in the end this was a combined effort and she looks forward to BOSM being a grand success.
