7. Take the houses to Zasqua 8. Record data for 15 times 9. Analyze results 10. Share our conclusion We will do our experiment by making a bird feeder divided into two, in one side we will put one type of food and in the other one we will put the other kind of food. We will put the house where we will do the experiment. And then each other day in the week we will go visit the house and measure how much food the birds have eaten in millimeters. Data Analysis and Conclusions: Our hypothesis was that birds would eat and prefer the pumpkin seeds than the sunflower seeds. Eventually we experimented and it turns out that our hypothesis was wrong. The birds ate and we think that they prefer the sunflower seeds than the pumpkin seeds. We went to check on our feeder four times and in those for times in pumpkin they in total ate 33 and in sunflower ate 82. So when you do the average of all four times we went for pumpkin seeds is 11 and for sunflower seeds it was 41. We think that a result came like this because the sunflower seeds are much smaller and easier to eat for birds which made them more attractive for birds to come and eat the sunflower seeds. In this case we had to change the amount of seeds in each pile many times and that for me is a factor that may have caused the sunflower seeds to have less seeds left at the end of our project. Something else that affected our experiment was that our house was destroyed a couple of times and for it to have a stable base and walls we had to take some of the components of the original house. We think that instead of counting how many seeds there was in each pile, the total weight would be a more accurate way to get results and we wouldn’t have to count every seed limiting it to 200 seeds but also many more. Besides that inconvenience that happened in our project we think that we would also put a more stable house and think of how the birds might enter because. This affected the way birds ate and saw the food that we were trying to give them for our experiment. We think we could’ve done better but we think that we learned about this topic in which is the birds’ preferences and which type of seeds do they like best. According to our previews project or question was which seeds do they like best between pumpkin or sunflower. In our future project we think that our other question could be in which place do birds prefer to eat. We think that our project or experiment was good even though we had some inconvenience and some obstacles a longer way but our project could make a difference in the future. Zasqua Jounal 2017 / 9
