CONAPAC - Adopt-a-School
We returned to Palmeras ll the next day and worked with CONAPAC's Adopt-A-School program to deliver school supplies. Leaders Pam and Adrian have an evident passion for partnering with communities through Conapac. We organized the school supplies that Adopt-A-School supplied for us on a table by grade level. We handed them to the kindergarten students to carry to their classrooms. Then one by one, the elementary through high school students were individually called up to receive crayons, pencils, pens, folders, etc. These interactions were short but sweet. We bent down to their level so the exchange felt more personal and comfortable. Some children would give us necklaces or bracelets. In the end, we all handed the teachers supplies to aid their teaching. It was moving to see how much they appreciated the small amount of supplies we delivered to them. Our easy access to supplies at home makes us less appreciative of what we use every day.
