“Yesterday a dream...today a reality!” James, one of the educational leaders of Santa Maria de Fatima came to EKOAMAZON asking for assistance in creating a cultural strengthening center where he wanted to promote reading and environmental conservation through recreational activities. He designed it to be fully run by the community so it can be sustainable without the need for constant funding all while gaining community involvement. The cultural strengthening center is personalized to the village's needs and environment, and the community showed a great desire for this project.

So, EKOAMAZON helped James to fund the building and on our first day, when we visited the village. They were having the ribbon-cutting ceremony for this new cultural center. We watched as the children's faces brightened up as they filled the room, they were so excited about a new opportunity to further their education!
