What is your heart telling you right now?
Right now my heart is telling me to look beyond what is in front of me. As you said it would be, coming back to my every day life has been extremely difficult. The temptation of falling back into old routines is constantly staring me straight in the face, however, it doesn’t feel the same as it did before. Whenever I allow myself to forget about our time in Peru, I feel very empty. My old habits still exist here, but they leave me feeling incomplete. After experiencing such simple joy in the Amazon, I find it frustrating that I can’t hold onto that same feeling here. What I keep thinking about is how badly I want to bring that feeling back here, but at the same time I’m also fighting the cycle of familiar habits that I want to break away from. I want to keep pushing myself to hold onto the momentum I gained during our experience in order to do what I want with what I’ve learned. It’s a process but I think it’s just taking me time to process and that looks different each day.
First thoughts when someone says, how was it?
At first, I thought I wouldn’t want to talk about my experience in Peru to people who didn’t go there and feel the things I felt first hand, however, when I talk about what we did there, I feel that spark again. I don’t think that anyone could truly understand what it’s like in the Amazon
