H. I. Latifee is an Advisor to
Nobel
Laureate
Professor
Muhammad Yunus, Chairman of
Yunus Centre.
He was a
professor of Economics at the
University of Chittagong before
joining Grameen Trust (GT) as
Managing Director in January,
1994. Previously, he was the
Chairman of the Department of
Economics at the University of
Chittagong from 1991 to 1994
and Proctor of the university
from 1988 to 1991.
As Managing Director of Grameen Trust from
January, 1994 to December, 2016, Professor Latifee
provided leadership to establish and implement more
than 152 Grameen replication programs in 41
countries including USA, China, India, Kosovo,
Turkey and Mexico. He carried forward the
Microcredit movement by organizing workshops,
participating in Microcredit Summits. He guided
New Entrepreneur Program of Grameen Trust which
demonstrated a tremendous success for solving the -
problem of youth unemployment and promoting
young entrepreneurs including women since its
inception in 2013. Professor Latifee is the winner of
Business Week’s ‘Stars of Asia’ award 2001. He has
been a longtime associate of Nobel Laureate
Professor Muhammad Yunus, the father of
Microcredit and Social Business and the founder of
Grameen Bank. Professor Latifee is a member of
organizations and social business entities in
Bangladesh and other countries.
