BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS (BBBS) &
CONNECT 4 (C4)
Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Mentoring Program matches vulnerable and
socially isolated young people aged 7-17 with positive adult role models.
They participate in community based mentoring activities together around
once a week for 12 months. To complement the BBBS program YWCA
provides Connect-4 Group Mentoring to support young people on the
waiting list.
This year:
132 young people were supported in one to one mentoring matches
and C4 Group Mentoring Days
66 volunteers participated in BBBS matches and C4 Group Days
22 new 12 month mentoring matches commenced
A survey of parents or guardians of Big Brothers Big Sisters participants
found that 75% felt that their relationship with their child had improved
as a result of the program, and
100% of parents/guardians surveyed would recommend the program
to others.
