Αristotelous Square
Aristotelous is the main square of
Thessaloniki and is located on Nikis Avenue
in the city center .The square was designed by
the French architect Ernest Hébrard in 1917
after the big fire of Thessaloniki. According to
the first plan of Ernest Hébrar Aristotelous
would have the name “the square of
Alexander the great” and a big statue of
Alexander would be at the center of the
square. However the first plan did not come
true because of some financial problems.
Nowadays Aristotelous is a very famous place
all over Greece and it is considered to be a very important tourist attraction. Somebody can find
there all kinds of stores and shops and have a great time at them. In addition some remarkable
events take place at this square such as political speeches, festivals, carnival and Christmas
celebrations etc .
The route to Aristotelous square is very easy. You take the bus 14 and you stop aτ the bus stop
Aristotelous. The square is on your left-hand side.
