Umbrellas
George Zongolopoulos' sculpture "Umbrellas" is
one of the artist's most well-known iconographic
motifs. The impressive sculpture of
Zongolopoulos was first placed at the seafront in
1997 as part of Thessaloniki's Cultural Capital of
Europe campaign. Today, the Umbrellas are
located in the new Thessaloniki seafront, some
metres away from City Hall. It is the most popular
"selfie" site of the city, especially among
teenagers.
