Cancer Bioimaging using BODIPY dyes Aldiyar Shakenov Department of Chemistry, School of Science and Technology, Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan Email: [email protected] Abstract Tissue imagining is the novel area of medicine. It can be utilized in various ways, however, nowadays it is used for imagining of cancer tissues in vivo. The main advantage of this technique is the ability of seeing through the tissue without surgery. The fluorescent dyes which absorb the Near-Infrared light is the potential tool for such a procedure. 4,4-difluoro-4-bora- 3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene (BODIPY) derivatives are promising molecular complexes which could be used in this field because they have high quantum yields and neutrality towards inner environment of the organism. This talk will discuss the benefits and the drawbacks of using the dye in cancer imaging.
