Team Maya Simran: a challenge in memory and celebration
Thanks to these nine superheroes who took on Guy’ s Urban Challenge last autumn and raised over £ 3,800 for Evelina London!
When Jay and Alpa Siyani’ s baby girl, Simran, died from a genetic metabolic condition in October 2013, they were heartbroken. With both of them carriers of the gene defect that affected Simran, having another baby was both a happy and scary prospect.
When Maya was born in January 2015, it was discovered she is also affected by the condition. Thanks to care from Evelina London, Maya’ s condition can be managed and she is happy and healthy.
‘ The hospital gave us support to help cope with Simran’ s death and guidance for Maya to live a normal life; they are always on the end of the phone if we need them,’ says Jay.‘ We can’ t speak highly enough about Evelina London and the staff.’
