THE TEE BOX | WHAT’S GOING ON
events, the likes of Lee
Westwood, Darren Clarke, Ian
Poulter and Ernie Els have all
been spotted showing off their
pins. Whether this is a good
thing for those watching on, is
another matter.Talking about
Europe, 2016 is a Ryder Cup
year and Jamie Donaldson will
be making a point of avoiding
chainsaw’s in the build-up to
the event.
The Welshman
sported a stitched up finger on
Twitter along with the caption
“So folks in my time off decided
to have a fight with a chainsaw
and lost! Oops!!” Perhaps the
Ryder Cup winner should
steer clear of any DIY jobs in
future.With the 2016 Waste
Management Phoenix Open
recently complete, the videos
of Tiger Woods’ sensational
hole-in-one at the 16th have
once again been doing the
rounds.
Rightly so, it was a great
moment but during the pro-am
event at this tournament, the
feat was achieved once again
at TPC Scottsdale by ‘someone’
called LDRICK. You may see
the similarities between this
name and that of Tiger Woods
original name but that’s where
the comparison ends because
LDRICK is actually a robot.
Still, it was met with huge
cheers from the galleries and
other players on the course.
Not all golfers like to keep
their skills for the golf course,
just ask Stewart Cink. During
a recent Duke-Georgia Tech
basketball game, the American
found his way on to court and
made a 94 foot putt (the length
of the court) to win a cool
$25,000. Even though Cink
made the putt, he may wish
to stick to the PGA Tour, as it’s
understood the prize was not
awarded, something which the
PGA would never do.
Cink made the putt in style but
it’s an amateur by the name of
Bryson DeChambeau, who has
been making the headlines in
the fashion stakes.
The American has been making waves in the world of golf, not just for
the standard of his play but also for his attire and his golf clubs. The pink
Hogan cap and camo sweater worn by DeChambeau in Qatar last week,
certainly caught the eye and the overall combination of pink and black
looked great, other were more interested in his clubs, all of his irons are
the same length. Expect to see plenty more of DeChambeau, both in
terms of golfing ability and fashion sense, over the next 12 months.
So there we have it, everything you need to know about what has been
happening in the world of professional golf over the winter months. Strap
yourself in because with The Masters fast approaching, things are about
to get really exciting on both the PGA and European Tour.
