#NothingFeelsLikeAMizuno
Once the weights had been dialled in at the range, it was
ready for the course. The results were shocking, but for the
good, it produced the best driving rounds of the year, almost
every fairway hit, and the missed ones were actually due to
hitting better, longer drives than expected. The ball comes off
hot, fly’s on a mid/high trajectory and hangs in the air for a
long time. It hits the ground with low spin running out nicely
to chew up those extra yards.
The Mizuno JPX-850 driver is impressive from top to bottom.
The stock shaft, The Fujikura Speeder 6.3 Tour Spec is one of
the best on the market too, the smooth feel and tight launch
parameters are great for low spin, mid launch results.
At 440cc it is actually more forgiving than you would think,
the face is still fairly wide and tall so off-centre hits weren’t
severely punished, the club offers good feedback through the
shaft and there is an audible difference when it’s not quite on
the sweet spot. Even though it is slightly smaller in cc, it plays
like a full 460cc driver.
Mizuno went with their blue colour scheme with the crown of
this driver, black on the bottom and a bunch of blue and white
accents in the paint fills and on the shaft. Its bold branding
looks good in the bag and on the tee box.
There has always been a lot of love for Mizuno irons, but now
is the time for a Mizuno driver to take the plaudits on behalf
of the brand. The JPX-850 is really impressive. It offers low
spin, great feel, excellent distance and good forgiveness.
Mizuno makes a great driver too.
