START YOUR DAY WITH HIGHER PROTEIN. If you don’t eat breakfast,
start. At least 50% of your breakfast should contain protein, choose
healthier proteins like Eggs and egg substitutes, Canadian bacon, chicken,
ham, peanut butter and nuts, lowfat cheeses, tofu, and yogurt. Protein rich
foods deliver tyrosine, which has been linked to increased alertness in the
human brain. Protein also helps your brain shift into focus mode. Many
proteins are high in iron, including lean red meats, beans, hummus etc...a
depleted iron supply can also inhibit learning and attention.
REDUCE SIMPLE SUGARS! Simple sugars are processed rapidly by the

SE COMPLEX SUGARS INSTEAD! Natural sugars like fruits, and complex
sugars like pastas and potatoes, whole grains and cereals are broken down
in a much slower manner, causing the body to create a more stable supply of
glucose and in return supplying an appropriate level of mental stimulation.
Sugar from fruits also supply many needed vitamins and minerals, and
fibre to the body.

ITAMIN B6 IS KEY! B6 enhances the effects of other vitamins and
minerals, and helps combat a variety of other diseases. A deficiency of
B6 has been linked to a long list of health and metal issues including
seizures, autism, depression, headaches, poor mental abilities, agitated
behaviour, anxiety and sleep difficulties. Foods high in vitamin B6 include
bananas, chickpeas, potatoes, chicken, oatmeal, pork loin, peanut butter,
and walnuts. Vitamins and minerals are not a cure for attention problems,
however, they can help to manage or reduce them.
