Student LIFEforce ( SLF ) is an extension of LIFEforce Tribe Members spreading Chiropractic while establishing connections with LIFEforce doctors and developing their leadership skills .
Student LIFEforce President : Devin DiCenzo
For his undergraduate degree , Devin DiCenzo studied Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina ( USC ) with the intention of continuing to a university with a well-developed D . C . program . A fateful externship with Life U alumna Dr . Shelly Jones (’ 85 ), led him to LIFE Leadership Weekend ( LLW ) and Life University ( Life U ).
While at LLW , he was exposed to principlebased Chiropractic and the family community that Life U promotes . Also , DiCenzo met a Student LIFEforce ( SLF ) member that he really hit it off with during the LLW program , and after that initial introduction , DiCenzo wanted to sign up as soon as possible for SLF and did so in his second quarter . Since then , he has certainly come a long way , becoming the President of SLF in his eighth quarter . During that time , he has been able to help grow the SLF tribe and host numerous events with other Life U organizations to promote Chiropractic on and off campus .
“ I always say that I love and enjoy my role I get to serve in , just because of the fact that as the president of an organization like Student LIFEforce , we bring in a lot of self-sufficient leaders – people that are already making an impact on the school and in their community . So , it ’ s very easy to lead other leaders and be able to promote the impact we can make on our Life U community ,” said DiCenzo .
Student LIFEforce Vice President : Olivia Porpora
Olivia Porpora went into her bachelor ’ s degree program in Exercise Science at the University of Delaware originally intending to continue on to medical school , but she found that it didn ’ t align with her beliefs on what health care should look like . She had been seeing a chiropractor , and after conducting her own research , Chiropractic seemed like the right stepping stone in her career journey . She spoke to several chiropractors , and Life U was the school that professionals continually suggested she investigate .
“ I just love everything about it . I love what we ’ re learning , I ’ m in seventh quarter now , so I am getting into the hands-on stuff , which is super cool . What I really love about Life U and what I think sets it apart from other chiropractic programs is the focus on philosophy ,” said Porpora .
Porpora first became aware of SLF when she connected to LF doctors and SLF students at LLW .
“ It ’ s honestly the best experience of my life . I have grown so much as a person since starting SLF , and look where I am now . It really helps you get out of your comfort zone — helps you have some personal growth ,” said Porpora . “ I love the aspect of it that ’ s all about spreading Chiropractic because that ’ s what I ’ m about . Not enough people see a chiropractor and know about Chiropractic .”
Student LIFEforce Secretary : Bilal Albaba
As an international student from Lebanon who speaks five languages , Bilal Albaba has a unique vantage point from which he views the world . He is French Lebanese and lived in France for a time . He also studied in Italy and earned his engineering degree there .
Albaba ’ s journey is certainly geographically complex , yet his journey to Chiropractic started out in a fairly familiar scenario . Albaba pursued Chiropractic as a second career after experiencing neck pain at a traditional office job . From there , he learned about this intriguing field of Chiropractic , one he had never been introduced to before .
Like many chiropractic students at Life U , Albaba ’ s passion for sharing awareness for the benefits of chiropractic care has grown over the course of his degree program . Student LIFEforce ( SLF ) is a natural avenue for Albaba and his fellow SLF members to come together toward a common goal of promoting chiropractic awareness and access .
“ How can I be able to reach more people with Chiropractic ?” said Albaba . “ I love the mission of Student LIFEforce : to expand the reach and access to chiropractic care and education if people so choose .”
Student LIFEforce Virtual Outreach : Macy Cummins
Macy Cummins is currently completing her B . S . in Biology in preparation for her D . C . major . She really enjoys engaging with clubs on campus , in particular Student LIFEforce ( SLF ), the Pediatric Experience Student Club ( Club PX ) and MaxLiving ( MaxU ). As an Executive Board member for SLF , Cummins manages the program ’ s social media and virtual outreach needs .
Cummins mentions how she wishes she had joined SLF sooner because “ not only do you have awesome opportunities to network with other doctors every quarter […], but then you also build such a strong community of likeminded people that you can go to with just about anything while also having fun working on Chiropractic and on your career path while in school .”
