Service with Humility and Honor : One LIFEforce Member ’ s Mission
Dr . Deborah Little
Dr . Deborah Little graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic ( D . C .) degree from Life University in 2005 . While working for a grocery delivery service called Peapod , she met a Life U D . C . student who shared with her about the chiropractic profession .
“ She was telling me about the body ’ s ability to heal itself without any nerve interference , and of course , I didn ’ t understand what she was saying , but the more she spoke with me I got really curious ,” said Dr . Little . “ Backtrack to when my children were little and they would get sick , I would pray over them , and they would get better really quickly . So , I knew there was something in my heart . It was something that I was just driven to do . After speaking with the young lady who used to work for me ( at Peapod ), I went to Life U and just started speaking to students and asking them about Chiropractic and the school . They were really wonderful , and after that , I spoke with someone in Admissions ,” explained Dr . Little .
Before she attended Life U , Dr . Little went to Chattahoochee Technical College to complete her undergraduate credits . Once she had her undergraduate degree complete , she started her journey at Life U . At the time , her youngest daughter would go with her to some classes and study groups . Her daughter became very familiar with the faculty and students and has fond memories of spending time with her mom on the Life U campus and of the special Life U community .
“ One time I had my grandtwins , and they were on oxygen . I remember attending a Life U event with them present , and there was a doctor who came up to them , and she adjusted their atlas . They went off those oxygen tanks that night . There was nothing else to convince me that this is where
God wanted me to be .”
Dr . Little ’ s mentor and Life U Board of Trustee member Dr . Leana Kart also introduced her to the Georgia Chiropractic Association ( GCA ). One of Dr . Kart ’ s missions is to increase diversity not only in the chiropractic profession , but also in GCA . This has now also become one of Dr . Little ’ s missions . She is President on the GCA Board and serves as Co-Chairman of the Membership Committee and Chair of the Diversity Committee .
“ I will be the first black president of the GCA , and I am so excited about everything ,” said Dr . Little on her election as GCA President .
She would also like to also expand the diversity of LIFEforce and the President ’ s Circle at Life U . Dr . Little said that “ My main goal is to get different doctors from different backgrounds , cultures and races to actively participate in LIFEforce .” She explained that she loves working with the students and prospective students , and it is one of the many reasons she is involved in the LIFEforce Tribe , which she said has taught her many lessons . Those lessons include how to communicate better with her peers , public speaking and learning all that the Life U campus has to offer . Dr . Little loves to see Life U continually growing and adding so many amazing features to the University .
When asked what she would say to another DC about why they should join LIFEforce , her response was , “ Why aren ’ t you ?” Dr . Little noted that LIFEforce is a great way to advocate for the chiropractic mission and to give back and help current students . She said that someone was there to help her , and now she wants to give back and help this future generation .
Dr . Deborah Little received the LIFEforce Impact Award at the 2022 Lasting Purpose Luncheon during LIFE Vision Extravaganza on October 1 , 2022 . The LIFEforce Impact Award is given to a new LIFEforce Tribe Member who has hit the ground running since they joined . They jumped right in by referring students to Life U , referring future LIFEforce Docs , attending LIFEforce and LIFE Leadership Weekends , and getting involved with Life U at multiple levels .
