These new objectives are unique because they represent a call to action to all countries to
promote human development and tackle environmental issues. It is of course up to the
governments to take control and implement national frameworks to achieve these objectives.
However beyond governments, it is all social and development actors who must take action and
this includes non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the private sector and civil society as a
whole.
