For my research project , I investigated the risk of cancer in patients with Parkinson ' s disease by doing a systematic meta-analysis . I ’ ve gained so many skills and insights in the process and learnt just how much dedication and hard work goes into research . I was able to submit an abstract to the 5th World Parkinson ’ s Congress for a poster display , and I ’ m grateful and beyond excited for the opportunity to share the results of the research that I ’ ve been working on .”

I was attached to the Brain Research Institute Monash Sunway where I assisted in investigating a link between Alzheimer ’ s disease and the neuropeptide , kisspeptin . I learnt that failure is not uncommon when conducting lab techniques and that troubleshooting is crucial towards the success of an experiment . The memories I have of this program will stay with me throughout the next five years and enhance my experience as a medical student .”

I had an unforgettable experience in this program . I learnt about the infectomics of the chikungunya virus , delved into intensive research about the fundamentals of the topic , and collected , analysed and condensed information into subtopics for a review .
