Anglesey demonstrates proactive highways asset management with
The Isle of Anglesey County Council is benefiting from visualised asset management software from highway survey and technology company Yotta DCL .
The North Wales authority has a unique mix of urban and rural A , B , C and unclassified roads across its 764 square kilometres ( 276 square miles ). The highway network , which is just short of 1200 kilometres has been loaded into their Horizons web-based platform to help the Council improve its approach to asset management and ensure the best decisions are made to maintain its roads .
With very tight budgets , Anglesey receives additional funds from the Welsh Government under the Local Government Borrowing Initiative ( LGBI ) to help with maintaining its network . The Council used Horizons to produce its 15-year forecast and demonstrate that it is making best use of this funding to the Welsh Government and other stakeholders .
Anglesey and Yotta DCL in partnership
The Council has a long-standing relationship with Yotta DCL , which began in 2009 when the company performed a high-definition Asset Inventory video survey using its unique six-camera vehicle-based system . The survey was to improve Anglesey ’ s existing inventory data , which was out of date and incomplete . Anglesey wanted to complete the asset inventory quickly and cost effectively and knew that Yotta DCL had done similar work for neighbouring authorities in North Wales .
