In the Art history, the Artist being his own subject is very common and very popularised by the DADA with Andy Whorl and nowadays by the Selfies and the increasing mediatisation. Practice!!!
Projects I have done inside the course let me increase my skill. During the process I was always afraid of the outcome and the viewer’s judgement. Audience judgement is unpredictable, and taste in art is subjective. But art is also an outlet. Artist through their work can denounced or show their way of seeing the world. It is very personal in a way. So when audience dislike or judge my project I feel like they judge myself.
This question of viewer's judgement always existed it is universal.
But Performance art and live art is creating to be see.
That is why it makes me constantly interrogate myself and carefully try to step backward on what I am doing to avoid creating an over the top performance. I have to say, theory help me to stay aware and influence by artist I knew or I learnt to know.
Intersted in people and human being, I want to explore the productive tension who can exist between bodies and technologies in performance art.
Interviwed by Kate Horsfield, Vito Acconci is taking the same approach he uses in art-making, he pulls apart these historical moments (in his work, the world, and the art world) to crystallize his perceptions of what had real life and use, and what was being left out.
David Davies, author of "philosophy of the performing Arts" explain Acconci approach : Acconci provided no opportunity for his intended audience to directly observe what he did, his action qualify as an artistic performance because he elected to do the kind of thing that did in the way that he did in the way that he did it in light of his expectations as to how his intended audience would respond to these action."
In my first year, influenced by Pipilotti Rist and Todd Alcott, also having already a strong opinion about media and its manipulation of the brain, I decided to create speculative live performance installation where people can experiment a personal vision of how media and TV influence and manipulate us nowadays.
I tried through virtual media to connect or disconnect people with each other using video and live installation. Through this installation I wanted people to feel oppressed and manipulate by what they see : A personal vision of mass media lobotomisation. The aim was not to influence or denounced, it was just a proposal of how in 2014 Images can impact us and how people could react to that.
Then I decided to create an other speculative performance. Here, the aim of the installation was to create a real connection between video and human being with a message of hope. Disaccording and tired of the nihilism I wanted to reconnect people with the real and themselves. This speculative experience was a lot influence by the Love Police (an organisation based in London who manifest and performed in the street or underground to aware people that «others» exist . They invite them to leave their Iphone, Ipad, Ipod, free newspaper (because for them it is more an invitation for consumerism rather then real information) ... to reconnect with the reality and the being.
When I go to an exhibition, or a theatre or an immersive performance I like when the scenography or the context is thinking for the audience. When it is participative or when you are not just spectator. Last year my practice was more focus on the audience.
How do they experiment a performance? How can I make them enjoy a show from the beginning till the end? how to bush the boundary of the performance with an audience more and more critic and impatient about what is around them?
Influenced by immersive performance and by using new media in my practice I wanted to include the audience in the performance. Create completely different world far from the real to let them immerse and connect with the performer and the rest of the audience.
I have to Explain your project this year// why and What… (didn't get time yet)

As some nihilist could say, we have been and see so much that it is hard to invent or be the one in our practice to find the idea. we can reinvent, think bigger and different but even if I wish I can invent the next new best idea of the century, I am realistic enough to say that my aim now is to use every thing around me and my knowledge and skills to do so- mething deferent. I am working hard on this sentence from Rene char ‘’ Impose your chance, hold tight to your hap- piness and go toward your risk. Looking your way, they will get used to it.»
Through all my research I have seen that it is possible to get the audience involved mentally, corporally and emotionally in a Performance. New media and digital are form me a medium who can allow more possibilities for the artist. If it is used in the right way in performance art it can immerse the audience. We are of course not anymore question the real. For me since a Long time Art and performance art wasn't used only to show the real an if it was tenting to this aim, a painting or even a photography does't represent the real.
